Art Safari

Sketching giraffes, characterising the monkeys or over-emphasising Burma’s wrinkles – it’s all part of the fun on “Art Safari”.  We will spend the day exploring Auckland Zoo learning many different drawing techniques and skills on our explorations.  Our focus will be on drawing the animals as much as their Zoo habitat.  We will use numerous drawing mediums and each child will get their own sketching pad to record their studies and drawings – creating their own ‘explorer in the wilderness’ journal to take home with them.   And if our schedule permits we will fit an animal encounter into the day as well – could it be more pawfect!   Enroll now!

Friday 21st July:  Artech @ MOTAT- A one day drawing programme for children aged 6 years and over.   Cost $99 including gst and materials.   9:45am to 4:30pm; MOTAT, 805 Great North Rd, Western Springs, Auckland.

MOTAT is full of history and memories of time and things past … like opening your great grandparents shed and exploring what you find inside. Because we are looking at old fashioned objects we have chosen some techniques that will give an old-fashioned effect to match the subject matter – sepia toned pencils, pencil and wash, and we have chosen old fashioned colours. We will be drawing in 4-5 main areas of MOTAT.  Each area will have a specific focus.  Each area will have a different way of drawing.  It might be the STYLE of drawing, it might be PERSPECTIVE, a drawing TECHNIQUE, using a different PAPER or a different drawing MEDIUM.
